Datacards exclusive TrueMatch™ printing technology closely matches the colours on your card to the colours on your screen. Produce two-sided cards in full-colour, up to 256 shades per colour panel.

Reliability

Used by businesses and organisations of all sizes, Datacard provides a standard 30-month warranty cover on this printer, alongside a 30-month warranty cover on replacement print heads.

Ease of Use

Datacard pre-loaded this machine with easy step by step on screen instructions, meaning you will be ready to print in under 15 minutes. Another benefit is the printer will alert you when simple changes such as a ribbon replacement or a clean of the printer are required.

Ease of Setup

The user-friendly Intuitive icons guide you through the soft-touch control panel and LCD screen meaning a quick and easy setup process.

Security

All cards printed are fully tamper-proof and are high in quality meaning durability and longer life spans. Additional security options such as magnetic stripe encoding and smart card personalisation are also available.  Another method of keeping your card secure is the option of adding a Kensington® security lock to the printer, and this can also be added to both the input and output hoppers.

Encoding

With the SD360, there is the option to add on Magnetic stripe encoding or Contactless / MIFARE Encoder upgrade.
Other options include:
ISO 7811 three-track option (high- and low-coercivity).
JIS Type II single-track option.
Support for standard and custom data formats.

Printer Type

The SD360 is a duplex direct to card (DTC) printer. DTC printing is a more popular technology used by desktop photo ID card systems. The image is printed directly onto the surface of a plastic card. The ID card printer does this by heating a special print ribbon beneath a thermal printhead, resulting in the transfer of colour from the ribbon to a blank card. This is done by using two methods, Dye-sublimation & resin thermal transfer. You can find out more about this process by reading a recent post which covered the subject. Please note this printer covers edge to edge printing meaning a small white border will be visible around the edges of the card.

Card Types

CR80 (credit card size) cards, can only be printed using the SD360.

Print Volume

The SD360 is set up to cope with high print volume requirements and based on a standard office working week totalling 35 hours you can print 5,425 double-sided (YMCKT-K) cards and a massive 29,050 monochrome cards.

Print Speed

In organisations with a high print volume requirement, printer speed is of the essence. As an example, during the enrolment period within the education sector, a high volume of cards may be printed over a two week period to meet internal deadlines. The SD360 offers superior speed over its closest rivals, and in just 1 hour you can print up to 155 double-sided cards and up to 830, single-sided monochrome cards.

Connectivity

Ethernet and USB connection are standard features with this machine. Having the ability to connect to both a network and single desktop means end users have the flexibility if their printing requirements may change further down the line.

Operating Systems

Standard USB/Ethernet ports and the browser-based Printer Manager helps you integrate SD Series printers into third-party applications as well as existing systems.

Size

The SD360 is longer in width when compared to other SD models such as the 160 or 260. This printer will fit directly onto a standard office desk space without taking over the whole desk. The exact dimensions are Length 21.2 in x Width 6.9 in x Height 8.8 in (53.9 cm x 17.5 cm x 22.4 cm)
Please note if you are looking to purchase 2 or more of these machine’s we advise on creating a dedicated printing area.

Appearance

Front facing, the SD360 has the same appearance as other SD models with its distinctive blue colour panels on show. Again, the only slight difference in appearance is this machine is longer in width.
